Plugin for Donations, Pay-per-Article and Subscriptions

In this article we briefly describe how donations, pay-per-article and subscriptions work together in the FeatherPay plugin.

Donations can be enabled under articles that are for free, with a tick of a box right before publishing. If you’d rather send readers to a different page in order to donate, you can make a designated page just for donations with FeatherPay. Fast and immediate, donations require no login from readers.

If you specify the price (as well as the number of teaser paragraphs) in the “Feather by Katalysis options” panel before you press ‘Publish’, this article will be placed under the pay-per-article button. This means that the item can be sold individually.

If you have also designed a subscription model (see below), this article will automatically be available under a purchased subscription.

In the FeatherPay administration panel, you can create different subscription plans. This means you can offer a subscription for e.g. a month for € 5, or half a year for € 30, for example. If the reader purchases a subscription from you, they can read all free & premium articles within the subscription’s timespan. Hence, no subscriber will need to buy articles individually. They can always choose whether they’d like the subscription to automatically renew.

👉 Recap: Donations, Pay-per-Article and Subscriptions
All articles for which you have set the price at € 0.- do NOT fall under pay-per-article and also NOT under Subscriptions. These free items are the only articles that can contain a donations button, and are not blocked. All items specified with a price can be sold individually AND in a subscription when you have specified the subscription plans. If you have not specified subscriptions, this item therefore falls under pay-per-item solely.
